Prayer

Power of Prayer:
Well we are close to a month of marriage already and it has been so busy but so much fun :) Joshua continues to amaze me with his never ending patience and love for everyone. He continually proves to me that always being kind is possible and for that I am so grateful. I have started to keep a blog because I think it will help me keep everyone updated better than just an email. Plus it is like and online journal and I have been keeping a journal for the last year now and I just love it. This week I have been looking back at my old journal entries reflecting on the last year and everything that has happened. It is really cool to see how this last year has been my favorite so far. I have been blessed with many things and it is really cool to see even the small blessings that I maybe forgot about since they have happened. It made me wonder what was so different about the years previous and I realized that I pray everyday. I keep an open communication with God and anytime I am unsure, worried, thankful, or just want to talk to someone I turn to God. I saw a complete difference in the answers I was receiving because I was seeking an answer and I always got one. I was reading out of Job in the Old Testament today those unfamiliar with this specific story I will give you some background knowledge. Job is found in the Old Testament he is a very righteous, and wealthy man but he suffered a lot through his life. Job was put through many trials he lost everything including all of his children but he still loved God. He was then plagued with sickness, sores all over his body and he still loved the Lord. Which brings us quickly to the chapter that I am speaking of where Job discusses with his friends that God knows he is a righteous man and that he is not being punished. His friends are convinced that God is punishing him because he thinks he is a wicked man. Still Job stood by his faith and said that sometimes good people go through difficult situations and that is why we have prayer to help us get through hard times. In Job 22:21-22 he says. "Acquaint now thyself with him (God), and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart." Basically Job is saying that speak to God and listen he will answer prayers and good will come to us. I also like verse 22:27  "Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows." God will hear our prayers even if we do not think that he will. Now that I understand the power of prayer and its blessings I never fear not feeling comforted I know that I will always have prayer.

The Adventure Continues:
Now back to updates with Josh and I. We have been extremely busy with work and school. Joshua is working full time and has picked up a lot of extra hours, and I am taking 19 credits and attempting to complete all of my proficiency exams (3 math tests. 1 spelling, 1 writing, 1 technology, 3 state literature tests, a praxis, and of course my certification tests). I need the first 6 to move on to my classes next semester and one of the literature tests to move on in the program. People who say that elementary education is not a hard major are very wrong. First of all I love kids everyone knows that but man as you all know they are hard work. Especially 26 of them... learning unfamiliar material, in an unfamiliar setting, with 26 sets of insane parents, and did I mention 90% of them are falling behind in at least one subject (meaning they perform below grade level) oh and a lot of them hate school because they think it is hard (who can blame them). I love teaching do not get me wrong but it is a lot of work. A lot more work than people think... I would say one of the most important things I have learned about teaching is that it is most difficult when you have an emotional investment in a students future that the parents do not have. Believe it or not it is so much more common than you may think and it breaks my heart. It is also scary the amount of work you have to do to protect yourself against the parents. My mentor teacher was telling me that she has to keep a folder full over index cards of even the tiniest incident it is really sad.

So about Josh. We finally are completely settled into our apartment and are preparing to have a reception here after the temple. It is going to be very low key with just a handful of people so it is not nearly as stressful as our wedding day but still stuff to plan for. Josh has been working a lot but it is nice because we both go to class/ work at the same time and get off at the same time. Josh really likes his job and he is also taking to online classes. We some how manage to still have time to do fun things (very rare) but i guess that is common when you're this busy. Next weekend we are going with our friends Karie and Paul and Josh's Brother Jacob and his wife Ardeth to the cabin to go snowshoeing and snow mobiling so that should be a lot of fun. We both decided that we wanted to cut all of our hair off so of course I cut off 9 inches as you saw and Josh is getting his cut off today. We are so grateful to all of you for the support and love you have given us and we can't wait to see you. Hopefully over the summer :)  MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.
